SE 8325CH Chasing Hammer

SE 8325CH Chasing Hammer

Good little hammer which seems solidly put together. Works for the small jobs I will use it for. The head does have a slight curvature.

This hammer is great EXCEPT a chasing hammer with rounded edges (on the flat side) would have been way better. I'm a just a beginner when it comes to jewelry making learning things the hard way. If the edges had been rounded it wouldn't leave gashes on my wire. No one can hammer completely level at the perfect angle. So avoiding leaving marks is extremely difficult. Lesson learned. You want a flat head with rounded edges...

I bought this little hammer as a light weight tool to work on some copper projects. I didn't need a full size industrial hammer, but rather something that would flatten small pieces of copper and not leave scuffs, scratches, and other marks. This little guy goes a pretty good job. The head is not quite as heavy as I'd like though. It's almost, but not quite, a toy hammer. But if you only need to whack some small, highly malleable pieces of metal for home-based craft projects, it does the job. I'm not sure about long-term durability, but I wouldn't expect to go Full Thor on an army of gargoyles and have this thing come out in one piece. It's not that kind of tool.

Overall, if you limit what you use it for to small, light-weight projects, it's a nice hammer.

I use it with a steel block to flatten and strengthen wire. A nice comfortable hammer. Handy crafting hammer. I've had no problems with rusting/corrosion. Would buy again.

I love this little hammer. I use it quite a bit and I have no scratches or dings from using it at all. But I tap my wire until it is flat, I dont slam it down or anything.

I used this for my ceramic work and LOVED IT. The weight is perfect and the size is ecatly what i was looking for. Cant twll you anything about metal smithing with this. Sorry.

I accidentally bought this, but once I had it, I liked it so much that I didn't return it. It's small, but it's weighted and contoured right that it feels natural in my ogre-sized mitts, and it's absolutely perfect for light planishing and chasing work.

Good hammer, so far it has held up well. I have used it to shape .925 silver and .999 silver. Slight marring to the peening head, but that could have been avoided if I was more careful and annealed more often. Good weight, great handle shape, head is secure no wobble.

I use it mainly for tapping on leather seams and stitching. Works great for that.
Very lightweight. If you need to do heavy hammering, look elsewhere.

The wide head is NOT domed. I'm not sure if using the smaller side is sufficient. I have used it for hammering wire lightly and it does the trick. I have not tried true flattening yet.
