I'm going to give this five stars, because it is was it says it is, even though I used it for another application which might not have been ideal. I used it to repack some racing mufflers, as I was under the impression fiberglass packing would melt and/or break down in my application. This is not the ideal material for mufflers, as the fibers are rather short and more prone to blowing out the tail pipe, but it has held up for a number of events. I was worried upon initial start up, because I did notice some minute fibers in the tail pipe, but I haven't noticed any more.
WEAR A MASK, EYE PROTECTION AND GLOVES when working with this stuff. It's supposedly non carcinogenic, but that doesn't mean it won't give you one hell of an irritation if it gets in the wrong place.
Great sound deadener for my van. It reduce the noise a lot in my 2016 Honda Odyssey I just stashed it in places like around the glove compartment and under the dash and in the side doors I put it in freeze wrap baggies to keep it from going everywhere and just used small packages here and there. It seemed to work better for lower frequencies but tire noise will still present but decreased. Makes a great bass trap!
Great price for this quantity of ceramic fiber blanket. I was easily able to pull it apart into ~1/2" layers which was what I actually needed and had enough for several projects after cutting to size with an xacto knife. After insulating the top and sides I was able to get my little toaster oven turned craft oven to 600 degrees F pretty easily (not with the stock thermostat of course).
made a small coffee can forge to heat treatment my knifed with works great but be prepared to itch worse then work with fiberglass
Used this product to insulate around a fireplace door set. It was just what we needed for sealing the gaps and providing a heat resistant/fire proof seal. It was high quality, easy to cut with knife provided, and we couldn’t have been happier with the value.

Feature Product

- Perfect for home foundries, forges, kilns, blacksmiths, knife making, glass bead making and many more
Description
Great for lining kiln shelves, building custom kiln insulation layers, and glass slumping in molds. Just what you need to create an amazing outdoor cooking space, service a wood stove, or refurbish a furnace. 8# density blanket is ideal for insulating applications where there is compression or tension on the material. This density can handle flame contact. Lower density (6#) may be used for pure insulation needs on a shelf or between two plates. This material will withstand up to 2100F continuously and resist melting up to a peak temperature of 2300F (1260C). Application of Colloidal Silica will provide greater rigidity and higher flame resistance when necessary.
Miracle material. We used this to make a forge in a bucket and it worked perfectly.
Excellent
Used this to remake our aluminum blast furnace. Easy to work with and perfect insulator.
Works really well for my furnace however please take proper safety measures as it will make you itch. I was itch even though I wear gloves while handling it so be careful.
Former insulation contractor here. This works better than refractory and is easier to move around when you are old and decrepit. Great for my temporary forge where I melt metals.
