I am a California Prop 215 and SB 420 complainant Medical Marijuana Grower. I purchased this loupe for checking trichomes for maturity; prior to harvest. I had used a couple of different brands of Scopes. I found that it was difficult for me to maintain a steady view with the scopes. The view was in constant motion. I have used this loupe, and find that I can get a steady, stable view of the trichomes. I also wear glasses and find that the loupe works better than the scopes, when wearing glasses. Other reviewers have stated that the cover for the battery is cheap plastic, and breaks easily. It is cheap plastic; however I have found that if you" gently" use a coin and move it back and forth it works without breaking. I expected the shipping to be slow since it comes from China. However, the item arrived rather quickly. Sorry do not remember how long but it was quick. I would recommend this item.
I have two of the 35x versions of this type of microscope and saw this 60x and bought it to compare. The battery is larger and this also has the UV LED as well as the dual white LED. It does have about twice the magnification. That is good if you need it. It also means that the field of view is more restricted and the focus tighter. I use these mostly for inspecting blades during sharpening. The 35x is probably better for this and I am continuing to use it most, but the 60x works fine too and gives you more magnification for the finest detail. The UV is good for looking at things like skin blemishes to bring out things that you cannot see with the white light.
If you are looking for a very small, very inexpensive microscope, these are great. I have been using the 35x daily, though usually just with sunlight, not the LED, daily for over a year and I am very happy. If I did not have the 35x I would be using the 60x daily and be happy with it too.
First time reviewing something, but I made a string of purchases recently so I figured I could make a brief review of some items I liked. This thing is great:
1. It produces a clear image.
2. It has 3 LEDs and 2 light modes with a nice solid feeling switch. One mode uses the two outer LEDs to produce a cool-white color. It's not very blue like some cheaper LEDs produce, but it is not a neutral white either. The other mode is an ultraviolet LED that works for anti-counterfeit markings on currency and ID cards etc.
3. The 2 cylinders of the unit pivot to move the LEDs closer to the object being viewed. This helps with the overall lighting effect.
4. Shipping to the U.S. was fast (considering from China) and free. Plus, THIS ITEM IS SUPER CHEAP.
5. The unit comes in a little case that appears to be made out of some sort of faux leather synthetic with velcro. It has some basic instructions in poorly translated English and in Chinese.
6. It says it uses 3xLR1130 batteries. I haven't bothered to open it up to take a look yet because I haven't had to change them yet. These are easily found online for cheap. If you buy them locally, it's probably cheaper to just buy another one of these units.
7. I can't really speak to battery life or light efficiency because I haven't drained the batteries yet. I've only used the light for about 30 minutes so far, and there is no noticeable decline in light output.
Overall this gadget is really well made. My nephew loved this gadget so much I'm about to order a couple more as gifts for some family members. He really likes it for looking at bugs. This thing has a ton of different possible applications. If you couldn't already tell, I highly recommend it.
I have a small collection of magnifying devices in the 30x to 60x range. I use them in my garden to judge the ripeness of certain plants. Of all those loupes and magnifiers I own, this is my go-to magnifier. I just bought one to replace the one that I've been using for years and years (lost it)
The view through this magnifier is bright and clear- very good image quality. Each lens has a 'cool white' LED aimed at it and a little switch selects between illuminating the 30x lens, the 60x lens or OFF.
I own a couple of other hand magnifiers that have disappointing, underpowered LED's. When I use those I have to also point a flashlight at the subject to get enough light for a good view. It's irritating to try to hold a loupe and a flashlight. THIS magnifier has very bright LED's- I never need additional lighting.
If I could improve one thing about this magnifier, I'd wish for larger lenses. The 60x lens is a bit small. But at this price point you can't beat this magnifier for indoor gardening applications.
Holy mackerel, this thing is small -- don't lose it!
Pros:
- very portable, easy to carry
- comes with a small protective pouch
- included LED lights, white and UV (I don't know how well the UV works on real currency and don't plan to use it much for that, but the white LED is extremely helpful when looking at objects close up)
- adjustable eyepiece allows for focusing, while leaving the scope flush against a flat surface for stability
Cons:
- cheap plastic housing
- nonstandard batteries
- vignetting around the edges of the image
- I question whether this is 60x, but in side-by-side comparison with another loupe I use a lot (rated 30x), this mini does have stronger magnification; whether that says more about this mini or my other loupe I don't know, I'm too lazy tonight to break out my expensive microscope and compare. :)
- perhaps a bit too small for individuals with large hands
Overall:
Great to have around as a simple, basic magnifying glass. Fits easily in your pocket or the car glove box or the desk. It feels a bit chintzy in terms of construction, but for $4 it is hard to complain too much. Just going on pure quality I'd probably give it a 2.5 or 3. However, considering what it costs, I'm giving 4 stars for the value price, the portability, and the included LED, which makes it much more useful.

Description
This very practical Jewelers Loupe/Magnifying Glass offers 60x magnification lighted by LEDs, either white or UV black light. Lightweight and compact ~ easy to carry in pant or shirt pocket, or handbag. In addition to jewelry and watch repair, it provides convenient magnification for reading fine print, maps, and any number of other items requiring close examination. A great tool for coin and stamp collectors. The UV LED makes it great for detecting genuine currency utilizing UV security features, which includes U.S. bills.
Now here is a magnifying jewelers loop that actually works like nobody's business. This is a fantastic product that magnifies right up to the composition of item being viewed. Looking at coins, for example, allows you to see every detail that is there, or NOT THERE. i AM 150% SATISFIED WITH THIS AMAZING LITTLE EYE PIECE!!!! i NEED TO BUY A FEW MORE, JUST BECAUSE THEY WORK SO WELL. AWESOME PRODUCT!!!!
This is actually a very useful device. I rate it only four stats because I cannot get an object object in focus as 60x magnifican. But it still works well. The photo shows seeds of Begonia cavallyensis. Even individual cells are visible. I have bought half a dozon as gifts for
Very bright white light plus black light powered by three LR1130 batteries. The pivot point between the light and the lens assembly can be angled about 30 degrees to put more light on the item being viewed.
The lens assembly slides in its mounting to adjust the distances between the item being viewed and the lens assembly. This is not an adjustment that changes the magnification. It is used to adjust the focus, allowing the unit to be held steady against the object being viewed, with the light close to that object
When compared against other loupes, the magnification seems to be low, closer to 30X than 60X.
Unless you really must have exactly X60 magnification, this is a very good product.
The diameter of the viewing opening on the side of the lens that is next to the users eye is about 1/4 inch and the diameter of the lens on the side next to the item being viewed is about 3/8 inch.
If you want a loupe that will stand up to rough handling, this isn't the product for you.
And it is an excellent product for the price.
Nice Triplet - this one is 20X (a little more my normal 10X which was what I was looking for). So I will use this in those occasions when I want more than my cheap 10X or my new LED 10X can give me. This seems to be good quality - not sure where it was made (not imprinted on the loop that I can see). I can recommend this if you want a little more than 10X and you don't need it to be lighted.
For less than $5? No-brainer. Excellent image quality, especially for this cheap. As with another reviewer, there is no way this is 60X. 20X seems close, in comparison to a 10x Belomo Jeweler's Loupe and a 30-35x Emoscop.
Where this little device really shines (literally!) is the included LED light sources. It ensures that whatever you're scrutinizing is well lit. It also includes both a white light source (2 white LEDs) and a UV source which makes any fluorescent material glow (fluorescent rocks, the fluorescent dye in currency and IDs etc.).
Sure it's got a plastic body, doesn't have quite the magnification power it claims, but it's tiny (not too much bigger than the Belomo 10x Jeweler's Loupe), has a clear image AND its own light source and is super cheap (it's even cheaper than most decent Jeweler's loupes).
