I initially got this as a form of practicing engraving on various materials ranging from wood and leather, to steel (soft and hardened) It performs best on anything besides steel. It will cut steel which is pretty good but it leaves much to be desired. The cuts are rough, the pen will drag and vibrate the surface making it very difficult to control for accurate and delicate work. Expect "micro squiggles." Something else to keep in mind, the tool is incredibly loud, not necessarily a deal breaker but something to keep in mind. The LED has no off switch and remains on when plugged in, and its positioned oddly making its job as a light source near impossible to achieve.
All that said, its a very fun tool to use. It does well at the job and works as much as you'd expect for the price. I would recommend this to people who want to practice engraving but cannot afford the high tier professional engravers.
I suggest getting some ear muffs as it is very loud, and maybe something to grind down the sharp edges that result from the engraving in steel.

I like that it’s simple and cheap. This isn’t a tool for master craftsmen, but it does get the job done. For the price, it’s a great tool to have.
