I would rank this loupe as fairly good in quality and solidly made. I doubt that the optics is really achromatic as claimed, but OTOH, this is an expensive feature and is not really needed in most cases.
The white illumination feature works quite nicely, with six LEDS around the perimeter. The UV illumination is poorly designed because it depends on six very weak UV sources mounted between the white LEDS. There is also one strong UV LED mounted off to the side, but it is not properly aimed at the inspection focal point when the loupe is held close to the eye. This is an obvious design flaw.
Where this loupe is very useful besides visual inspection is when it used as follows. When the loupe is positioned securely against an iPhone or other smart phone camera, it takes nice microphotography pictures, and with excellent illumination when using the white LED illumination feature.
It would take normally two hands to held the hold the loupe snugly against the iPhone in proper position, and then another hand to push the camera button while holding everything several centimeters from the specimen being photographed; too much to handle.
You can overcome this difficulty by clamping the loupe securely and temporarily in proper alignment against the camera aperture. This may be done using several long stiff surfaces like wooden pencils running across the smart phone and the loupe on both sides of the phone. The pencils are pulled into tight contact at their ends by using multiply looped rubber bands on both ends of the pencils. This arrangement will hold everything in close contact long enough to take good pictures.
I purchased and received the GAIN EXPRESS Mini Folding Jewelers Eye Loupe (10 x + UV Light, 6 LED Lights). I very much like and appreciate the device itself—enough to unhesitatingly and enthusiastically give it a 5-Star rating (as a collector of fine coins)...
However, it arrived with dead batteries installed. I spent much time flipping, rearranging, and reinstalling the LR927 button batteries, but without result.
All three batteries were deader than tombstones—but unlike Lazarus, were not amenable to resurrection, and unlike Frankenstein’s monster, unresponsive to reanimation.
So, my message to GAIN EXPRESS: please provide live batteries, or ship without batteries—and so prevent disappointing your customers, while diminishing (slightly) your own well-deserved reputation as an excellent company.
The happy ending is that I purchased new batteries, and the loupe works exactly as advertised (despite a single, pathetic review to the contrary).
Furthermore, the loupe is robustly built and artfully designed, so I’m certainly going to keep it—trusting that my next purchase from GAIN EXPRESS won’t be accompanied by disappointment.
A couple of months ago I bought a very cheap loop because that’s all they have available at the time. Actually it was two of them. They were pure crap, I’m going to give them to my grandchildren as toys. This loop on the other hand is great! I don’t need anything sophisticated, just something to examine watches closely. Just fills the bill perfectly, nice quality for the price.
Much better than expected. I own a couple other more expensive loupes with high grade optics. I wanted one for shop use that I wouldn't have to be so careful with. This has become my go to loupe. The light features work terrific.
Mixed review. This is a really lovely loupe at a reasonable price point. The LED light function is awesome. I was able to see so much more on my jewelry than with a non-lit loupe. However, if you want to use this for the UV light function, you should pick a different loupe. I have a UV pen so i know what I'm looking for but this built in UV light barely does anything. Otherwise, this is a great loupe.

We use this for my fiance's engagement ring, and it's amazing what you can see. We researched a what kind of loupe to buy and this one does the job. We can even see the inscription on the diamond...too small to read but if you have perfect vision, you might be able to.
Great device for the money! My husband wanted some ridiculously expensive ones but I went with this because of the money and it works great!
Excellent loupe for the money and has an edge over the Belomo loupes in that a light is built in. Quality is comparable to the Belomo and is helpful in examining tine/nib alignment for fountain pens. (I am a collector). Would like to see this model in a 15X.

Received it last week, I am 100% satisfiid with the Loupe. Bought 2 more as gifts. Outstanding value and quality for the price. Great optics and once you use a Loupe with LED lights you will prefer it to one that does not. I bought a 14X and 20X Bausch & Lomb and this is my favorite all purpose Loupe.
I ordered o couple different loupes and the Gain Express 10x with light was the best. The optics are as good as you could ask for. I could not believe how much the light helped when used. Viewing gem stones and settings are very easy and you are not trying to find the "right light". I highly recommend!
