I bought these along with pipe cleaners to help my son learn to add, subtract and multiply. This as a visual aid I've found to be invaluable. I have pipe cleaners with 10 beads each and I let him do the moving of the beads from one end to the other or add other sets to get his totals. He's 5 yrs old and can add, subtract and kinda multiply now thanks to this little trick.

Although there were quite a few beads with sharp edges/hanging plastic, the beads worked well for a project in a Pre-K classroom. I did, however, sort the beads by color, so I was able to discard the beads that contained hanging plastic that may injure/scratch the children. Although this was not that big of a deal to me because I had to sort the beads for our project anyways, many do not have time to sort/check beads for potential injury-causing potential. For this reason, I gave the product a four-star rating. The color options are WONDERFUL!! There are a ton of different colored beads, and that is a major benefit of this bag of beads. I was able to create 25-30 Ziploc bags for students to choose from using two different color beads, and not a single bag had the same two colors of beads. If you're looking for a colorful selection, this is definitely the product to choose!
I did not dislike anything about them. I used them for pictures. The Marvin the martian took 945 beads the Dragon took 1023 and the Seahawk took 1131 beads. I suggest if you are going to do bigger patterns I would get the 1000 pack of each color instead of the variety packs. You will find out that you will go through them pretty quickly and they are not that expensive.
I go through a lot of beads for crafting. Although these beads many not be of the highest quality, the hold up well, and this is the brand I prefer to buy. I have ordered the same brand, size, and color and on a few occasions the beads have been different shades, and o a few times different textures. What i have found ia that Darice is made in the USA as well as China, and on these occacions that has been the difference. Like all mass produced items, you will have some beads without a hole, not cut correctly, with a jagged edge or two, and some may even be broken. All mass produce products have this potential. For the price these pony beads are the best i have come across. I have no complaints. They hold up well, are glossy, and the color is pretty true to picture. I would recommend these beads to anyone. Great value.
As expected, great color assortment. Has the colors mint & dark plum /purple ("popular" colors right now), white and tan. High Quality, only a few broken pieces.

So I'm not a bead aficionado by any stretch of the imagination, so I can't rate these beads on like a "beaders" criteria, but we bought these to be the rain drops hanging off of the sleeves of his shirt by threads on my kid's Idiom Day project and they worked great. He got an A. And there were practically a bazillion of them, so really we could have made a monsoon in a teacup rather than just a storm in a teacup.
So if you need rain for your son's school project, these are the beads to buy.

Great amount of beads! I used these during my monthly meeting for kids ages 4-8 for one of there crafts, these worked awesome for making sun catchers. They metaled fine, low smell. Now I have extra I can use for other crafts and activities.
We used these beads for a Girl Scout craft & they worked great! We didn't find any unusable beads and had plenty available to complete our craft. If using these for a kid's project, I'd suggest using something to put them in for easy access & containment - we used cheap cupcake liners & they were perfect. Once you open the bag the beads kind of go everywhere!! I opened the bag & put the beads in a zip-loc style bag for easier transport to/from our meeting, then we used the cupcake liners to keep the beads contained while completing the craft.
All-in-all these were a good purchase - just the size we needed & all formed the way they are supposed to be!
Purchased these for my daughters and they had fun creating necklaces and bracelets all day long. The beads are a good size for little girls and have plenty of colors. My only complaint was that I don't think there are actually 1000 beads as stated. However, great price for many beads.
I literally just copy and paste myself to review these beads now cause I bought all different type of color to make those kandi stuff, so ya... It's cheap enough for a right amount to make kandi bracelet for rave lol, after researching many hours for stooped cheap beads. I dont know how the hell to say other than that -__-.
