CM-Ceramics 24

Perfect. I have two layers inside of an old propane tank. Each layer coated with refractory cement. With one homemade Venturi burner, im easily able to produce enough heat for bladesmithing. I've had success with. Mokume and some small forge welding. Haven't tried Damascus yet. But def does it's job.

Make sure you coat it in something. The fibers heating up and floating around can be nasty if you inhalf them.

The small exterior sheathing part of a 'Tee' on my high temperature stainless steel chimney separated and the insulation had broken down and poured out. When I realized NFPA codes required me to replace the entire chimney since the manufacturer was out of business and I couldn't just replace the 'Tee' with a different brand, I decided I would at least try to replace the insulation and repair the loose exterior part of the 'Tee'. After repair, I tested the part with an increasingly hot 3 day fire. The repaired part was cool to the touch while my existing pipe was warm to the touch, even after activating the catalytic combustor which reached 1400 degrees, I was impressed. The one inch blanket was easy to work with, cuts easily with the supplied knife, and you can use standard felt-tip pens to line out your templates. The thickness fit perfectly in the insulated area of my 8" GSW pipe, and it saved me a small fortune.

Great thermal barrier for my forge. I use utility scissors to cut it. WEAR GLOVES AND A MASK!

This is the real deal, high-quality brand-name ceramic insulation, 1" thick. Exactly what you need when dealing with the really hot stuff! CM Ceramics is an established supplier of industrial materials with a long track record of quality materials and service. Other offerings appear to be "cheaper" because they are! You will find them to be either generic imported knock-off materials or 1/2" thickness. The 1/2" thickness is 1/2 the material, so naturally, you will find it at half the price. While the knock-off materials may say 1" thick, you will find that they don't have the same density and material qualities. You save nothing because the other offerings won't do the job.

I installed a wood burning stove in my wifes' "She Shed". She said her she shed would be so much better with a heater in it. I had to figure out some way to safely put the 4" pipe through the wall. A 6" schedule 40 oilfield pipe was run through the wall and braced. The 4" stove pipe was inserted into the pipe wrapped with the ceramic insulation material. At a full wood load the stove pipe will read 450-600 degrees Fahrenheit but the 6" pipe is the temperature of the outside air. Amazing! So now there is little danger of burning down "Sue's Soap and Sewing She Shed".

I used this product as a heat shield for the boiler on an espresso machine. Worked extremely well. Product comes with a utility knife (disposable) because it will quickly dull scissors. I would highly suggest reading and following the instructions for handling/cutting this product.

We use this product to protect electronic components exposed to high heat in turbo-charged automobiles. We manufacture a custom product for our customers that shields their engine electronics from temperatures that can easily reach 700*F or more and the ceramic blanket works perfectly for our application, it's thick, flexible and is easily adaptable to compound shapes.

I had to order this twice -- the first time it was "lost in shipment" and never arrived. The second time it made it to me within 2 days. I bought this to insulate my espresso machine boiler; it worked fairly well. I had never worked with ceramic fiber insulation before, so I was surprised that it wasn't very compressible -- meaning, that I had a hard time working it into narrow spots around my boiler. It's a solid 1" thick (as advertised) -- you can compress it to ~3/4" if you try real hard. Keep this mind if your application involves installation in tight spaces.

Very happy with how easy it is to work with this product. I used it to fill the space between my pellet furnace flue pipe and my clay chimney sleeve. Easy to cut to fit and install. Would certainly buy again.

Works exactly as described. Arrived quickly in good packaging. The included knife was a big bonus. I'm using this item to plug up some drafty openings around my wood burning fireplace insert.
