Liver of Sulfur, 4 Ounce Jar | SOL-600.04

Liver of Sulfur, 4 Ounce Jar | SOL-600.04

I have used other products and they are not as potent as this stuff. You only need a small amount to patina your works so be sparing. If you think it is not enough cut it in half and then use it. It seems to be very powerful it is a dream come true.

Lasts a long time if you store it in a glass bottle with a decent tight lid.

I wrote an earlier review based on shipping and found out I was wrong to assume it was Euro Tool' mistake. Received the Liver of Sulfur. Worked with it several times and it performs great. Leaves a nice patina effect on both silver and copper. Would recommend.

This product always works well with warm water. It is necessary to protect it from moisture to keep it fresh.

Works fine

Description

Liver of sulfur is traditionally one of the best oxidizers for silver and other metals. It produces a durable black finish. Simply dissolve in hot water. 4 oz jar comes in lump form.

As advertised. Nice affordable small quantity in a well sealed container. Worked well which means it is a fresh product

I'm a general contractor. Used this to put a tarnished finish on copper-edge metal commonly used for roofing and deck flashing; got the idea from online videos jewelry makers posted. Client didn't want the new-shiny copper finish that gradually turns into the green-patina color people come to expect. Instead, I used liver of sulfur to tarnish in a dark bronze finish mixed with warm water and a regular spray bottle; waited a few minutes after is instantly turned color right before my very eyes. Washed off with regular water to neutralize the solution, air-dried under the sun, and brought in to cool. Later, I applied 2-coats of oil-based polyurethane to protect against the elements. Eventually, the typical beach weather in SoCal will oxidize the metal, but hey, it's a fantastic product at the end - client very happy!

Smells like rotten eggs (or sulphur). Oxidizes copper, brass and silver quickly. Great for finishing jewelry. Recommended.

Potent when freshly made. Haven't figured out how to store the solution once it is made though.

Used for getting coloration effects on metal jewelry.

Sounds funny to say about a chemical, but this Liver of Sulfur is quite fresh & fast-acting. It arrived with an extra seal around the lid--to keep out the moisture that can render it useless. Worked GREAT on my first batch of etched metal.
