This inexpensive loupe did the job I needed it to (checking our engagement ring & diamond to make sure it looked to fit the certification and pictures shown online, just for a sanity check). I can't really tell a whole lot of difference between the 10x and 20x, though that doesn't mean that the 20x is actually less powerful than advertised, since I am not experienced with using loupes/magnifying glasses, but it does mean that you'll probably find the 10x to be the most useful as the viewing area is much larger than that of the 20x. It would be really nice to have larger viewing area for both powers, as even looking through the 10x made appreciating the diamond a little difficult; however, I don't know that I would recommend that anyone spend any more on a fancier loupe if they had a similar need as we did, because it did do the job and it is still nice to take some close up looks at the diamond and the band from time to time. The metal is nice, and it feels like it would probably hold up pretty well, though if you're going to be using it a lot, I would wonder whether a loupe with a larger viewing area would be more appropriate.
Works like a dream! If your trying to read the GIA number engraved on your diamond, I would suggest a stronger loupe (probably 30X). If I held it in the perfect position hitting the light just right I could BARELY make it out with the 20X and my husband couldn't even see it.
Makes my amateur geology hobby more fun. Works well. Stows well. No issues here. When you get bored. Works good on splinters. And looking at ants ha
I ordered a 30x loupe but the company sent this one by mistake. After reading reviews of the 30x (that it's not a true 30x) I decided to keep this one, rather than fool with sending it back. After all, it was cheap.
The loupe works well. The quality of the optical glass is not the greatest, but it's not bad quality, either. I'm just not sure I would consider it "professional" grade, for someone working with high-end jewelery or what have you. For what I use it for (inspecting small electronics), it's just fine.
I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality. It seems durable and well constructed for the price.
Perfect for my rock hound trips in the Black rock desert

This product is great , and has been used for many different functions. I bought two. One for home, and one to carry in my purse when looking at small labels and markings when I shop. The product comes in it's own box. It is easy to slide open, and made of solid quality. I would recommend this purchase, and would purchase this item again.
I received mine in excellent shape -- no scratches whatsoever on the glass as one reviewer found. The size of the 10x loupe is stated to be 18mm, but the glass is 15mm or a little under 5/8 inch. The size of the 20x loupe is smaller (for looking at smaller things) and is actually sightly over the stated 12mm diameter or about 1/2 inch. This size is more than adequate for looking at, for example, diamonds, but may not be big enough for geological purposes.
As far as the optical quality, I found nothing to complain about. The mechanical build quality is more than I expected for the price. If you want a bigger, more powerful loupe with a built-in LED light, even including a spare battery, you might consider the SE 30X Illuminated Jewelers Loupe. It has a plastic housing for the lens, but the illuminator works well, and the optics diameter is 7/8 inch, or about 22mm, which is more than twice the area of the larger loupe on this model. The price is a staggering $4.15.
Face it, these things are essentially free, assuming you take the free-shipping option. And you can look this gift horse in the mouth and come away smiling.

My Grandkids needed some expanding of their outlooks. This product will help to introduce them to gems and lapidary work as well as to gold and silver smithing for jewelry as well as learning some Geology. All around a good experience for kids.
Awesome double loop for price. Make jewelry for hobby and comes in handy.
Dear Consumer,
This product is a good choice for a very hardy lens. The best things about this product are:
- It comes with a nifty little case, which is very nice for keeping the lens clean and scratch free
- Duel lens provide the best possible magnification for the object being viewed
- very heavy and hard to break. Not that Ive tried, but I know that if I drop it, it wont shatter
Now, the only thing I do not like about this product is the loose folding lenses. The mechanism for the lenses are loose, and the lenses tend to wobble and swing around. This can become a problem, but it tends not to be a problem if you are holding the lens the proper way. However, the lenses stay under the protective surface very well, but wobble when out like during use...
Other than this, I would recommend this for any use for magnification.
I use mine for geologic examination, and will continue to do so until it falls apart on the job. A great little tool.
