First off, I wanted to state that I am a “NOOB” (beginner). I have never done this type of welding before. However, this unit is quite easy to use after I did some research on how to use the adjustment knobs. This was not very well explained in the manual. (see below, the settings I used in order to get started)
Also, I waited until Customer Service resolved any problem I had before submitting a bad review like some people do. Even after shipping issues, they still received a 5 star (see the remaining review below).
The bad:
There was a small issue, concerning missing parts (see attached pic) that customer service resolved right away! Customer support took care of the issue; one is still pending but I am secure in knowing it will be resolved soon. However, the shipping of one of the missing parts from China was quite lengthy.
Model: PHY-30A was the unit I received from this listing. This is a 110 volt, 30-amp unit. The unit arrived extremely fast and worked straight out of the box. A piece was missing (the handheld welding gun: attached pic). I sent an email to Lei's Store and they responded right away stating the warehouse had problems and would ship the missing piece as soon as possible.
I was able to arc weld quite a few Stainless Steel (small gauge) items, cleanly and fast. Remember not to touch the tungsten steel element (the needle thingy) to the metal you are trying to weld. Needle and object should be .5 mm apart for optimal welds.
The directions were not as clear as I would have preferred but I was able to work out the details. If anything, I got a good chuckle out of it. (Translation software needs some help)
Example of humorous translation (actual quote from reversely binded manual see pic if you think i'm lying. LOL):
“a) long period of time should not foot pedal foot switch, you immediately step away, such as long walking foot switch, the machine status in a short circuit will burn the internal circuit.”
And…
“…otherwise there will be a sense of acupuncture”
Remember to read the instructions with an open mind and start your first welds with the settings of 5/5 on the two dials (stated for the “Noobs” like me).
I have welded 1/16” (1.5mm for everyone outside of the USA) stainless steel on these settings if it will help anyone:
Coarse Tune = 6
Micro Tune = 5
In short, I received what I order and it worked as described! Their warehouse did have some problems with shipping but I believe that it is resolved now. I will buy from them again since good Customer Service means more to me than anything (regarding missing parts). I give 5 of 5 because I’m happy and the unit works.
