Good build quality, metal and glass. LEDs illuminate workpiece evenly. Happy with it so far.
One warning when unpacking it: The magnifying lens is glass and heavy -- which is good. However, it is held on top with a plastic retaining ring that twists to hold it down. In my first unit, the retaining ring was loose and the glass lens immediately fell to the floor as I was unpacking it, chipping it. I returned that one and was more careful with the replacement. However, the same thing happened! This time I caught the lens in time, put it back and tightened the retaining ring to hold it firmly in place. So, word of caution: Be careful when unpacking to make sure the lens is firmly in-place before using it.
I use this for cross stitching. It works great. I have it clamped to my Lowery stand. The arm keeps it's position. Good area of magnification - the 2.25X allows me to work on 36 count linen. LEDs are wonderful! Really lights up whatever you're trying to view. I don't need my overhead Ottlight when using this. I can easily remove the flip up cover while I use it. It easily reattaches - just push down slightly on the tabbed area when putting the cover back on. Just remember, you need to keep it covered when not in use. If you are using this near a window, the sun can hit the uncovered magnifier & catch whatever is underneath the lens (your couch, chair, rug, etc) on fire! The only issue I have with this lamp is the ball joint swivel head. There is a notch in the ball joint (where the arm attaches to the magnifier), be careful when adjusting the magnifying glass to the angle you want to see through. It will easily come off the arm. It's still attached via the wire, you will just need to re-thread the notch into the head of the magnifier. It's kind of a pain in that aspect. But other than that - this is a great lighted magnifier.
This was like the old days when you opened the package and inside was more than you expected instead of light weight plastic that worked but you wondered for how long. This lamp is metal with a glass lens. It is solidly built, well balanced, and stays where I position it. The magnification is just right for working on things like jewelry or watches. The light is bright and even. Every time I turn it on and position it I like the feel of it. It's like the Mercedes Benz of desk lamps. Too bad I can only give it five stars.
This looks really nice! Much classier than the ones with exposed springs. It swings like a dream, as if it's riding on bearings. There's about 12" travel from when its up like in the picture to out horizontally. It creaks a bit, but stays where you put it.
When I unboxed it, the head was vertical for shipping, and it was quite tight as I tried to spin the head to horizontal, but then the head dropped down, so I spun further right then left and it seemed to bite hold and stay horizontal. But now I worry a bit about playing with it in fear of it loosening again. Which isn't a big deal, since I only want it at that angle.
The magnifier is quite clear and quite large. So large in fact, I find myself closing one eye while using so I don't see double. The light is a plenty bright, cool white, single brightness level.
The picture shows the shield up, but it's much sleeker with it down.
I set mine on the table next to my chair so I can just swing it over when needed. It doubles as a reading lamp.
It's cool how the head stays at the same angle even when raising and lowering the arm.
The big wing nut for adjusting the up and down is easy and bites well.
The mounting clamp is heavy-duty, the actual opening is 2-3/4", which means it would hold a table about 2-5"8". The top lip hangs on about 2". The edge of my coffee table has a funny lip, so I cut it to fit since I'd rather have a useful lamp than a perfect table. I also considered drilling the clamp and screwing it to the table, maybe a couple thru the top, or one thru the top and one thru the side.
This is such a nice lamp, it's worth it to do whatever it takes to make it work for you.
I bought this for my mother for her sewing room. She already had a stand and light from years ago. This light was far better than the original light that came with the floor stand. The light is very sturdy and seems to be well made. I was very careful when removing it from the box as other reviews indicated that it may come apart and break. This one was intact and good condition - though I will say that the company that delivered left it at my back door in the weather without placing it in a waterproof bag. Of course, it rained and the box was completely soaked. The light was packed in styrofoam container so it was not damaged. I asked the question would it fit the stand that we had before purchasing and I received a variety of answers. One was that it would not; but I ordered anyway. It did fit the stand in the same way it fit the table clamp. Very satisfied with this purchase. We have not used a lot to rate how the bulbs will last but the LED light is much better than the single bulb the old light had in it.

I was at the end of my rope. My vision was so poor i had accepted that had to give up decorative painting until someone suggested i try this magnifying glass. OMG!!! I can paint again!! This lighted magnifying light is wonderful!! It takes some getting use to using but its worth the time. Its very bright (i needed brightness), the magnifyer is very strong so i can see even the smallest of details. I can paint again!! I highly suggest trying this item if you are having vision issues and need more light but especially if you need magnification of a large area. The flexible neck makes it easy to position the whole lamp just how you need it to sit while you work. Best darn investment i ever made. I use it in addition to my regular glasses. I cant say enough how happy i am to be able to continue to paint!!
I bought this<< circuit-test>> swivel desk lamp with magnifier for 9 mo. The system appeared sophisticated and appealing at first.So,I loved it at the first day I got it.But after a while some LED started to blink for some nights and then stopped working.At this time 27 LED stopped working for good.My presentiment has been right:products made in China are unpredictable! Now the light is not bright any more.The support or arm is still very good,unfortunately the light itself is not.So,folks, think over it.

bought for my wife to use for work. it is a wonderful piece of hardware!! She likes it, so I like it!! GREAT LIGHT!!!
I use this for building model cars, and it works very well. I had a similar one before, but the LEDs on the old one started flickering. This one is better, as it holds where I put it, whereas the old one would sag and tilt on its own. I could do without the lid for the magnifier, but it doesn't really get in the way. The lens is very good, with great magnification and no distortion. For the price, this is an excellent magnifying lamp.
Works well but the clip isn't well designed and won't hold light, which is quite heavy. I returned and bought a smaller version that works very well and has a better clip.
