This is a nice, solid, easy to use loupe for not a lot of money. I wanted a fairly inexpensive loupe to take with me to estate sales. I chose this product for two reasons, first this loupe has real optical glass, which makes a big difference in the clarity of what you are looking at. Second the loupe was very economical. I can carry this loupe and not worry constantly about losing it. The LED light is not only a nice feature but an absolute must when examining a piece of jewlery or details of an antique. The only issue I have had with this product is the screw fell out and I had to get a replacement. I have since put the new screw in and put a little nail polish to help hold it firm. No more lost screws. I am planning on getting another of these to keep in my car for impromptu antique hunting. All in all, this is a surprisingly nice loupe at an inexpensive price!
I am a geologist and use a small hand magnifying lens to look at samples. My old one broke and I needed to replace it. This one is much better than what I had. The lens diameter is larger, with greater magnification. Finally, the LED light is a great improvement over trying to position yourself in the best natural light. Very satisfied with this purchase, and I'm ordering another one for a friend.
This was a great bargain for the money!! This was advertised as a 20x loupe but when it got to me in the mail (took about 3 weeks to get here from Hong Kong) it turned out to be a 30x...at least according to the wording on the loupe's cover. It comes in a nice little plastic storage box not much bigger than the loupe itself (fits nicely in a desk drawer compartment, in my cheesy wooden "pen box" where all my fountain pens are (which is why I bought this thing, to check the even-ness of the "tines" on my fountain pens) or what have you. It also came with a little tool-gadget so you can remove the battery cover to change the batteries if need be. The batteries operate a pair of REALLY BRIGHT little LED lights, which you'll need if you have a lens at 30-power. This is a nice little rig for no more than you pay for it.
I purchased this because I like to collect coins and needed something with a lot more power than a magnifying glass, yet is much smaller. This jewelers loupe is exactly what fit that bill. When I first saw it's price I figured it was going to be all plastic, but the magnification would be strong enough to see very fine details in coins; I was very pleased to see that the casing is made out of very heavy and sturdy polished steel. The lenses are as good as glass, and the magnification is awesome. Some say that it is more like 20 power, but mine sure magnifies those small details though. Another impressive feature is that it is illuminated, and the light is quite bright. It has two tiny leds that emit quite a bit of light, yet it is focused perfectly on whatever you are looking at up close through the loupe, be it coins, stamps, bugs, micro-printing, etc. The light is powered by 3 thick button type batteries, that should last a very, very long time, before you have to replace them, and when it's time to replace them, a handy little metal gadget to unscrew the top for the batteries is included in the case that you store the loupe in. Cleaning the lenses of the loupe is quite easy, merely use a damp q-tip and gently stroke the lenses free of any smudges. Other than that, this little guy is well worth the money for the quality and features you get. These are priced just right to give as novelty gifts to friends and family, which I am going to do around the holiday season.
I got this because I thought the 10x loupe I bought in 1955 just wasn't as high a magnification for some of the plants and insects, coins and stamps that I look at from time to time. Well, it turns out that this is marginally better in terms of magnification, but is cheaply made with sharp edges on the magnifier's "case." At the same time, the light is invaluable.
Though larger than my 10x, this does not appear to be a 20x. I have no idea what the magnification is, but an educated guess would be 15x.
Btw, it's fairly bulky, too. Still, I give it four stars.
P.S. DON"T LOSE THE "SCREWDRIVER" FOR CHANGING BATTERIES. This come with a twin notch "screwdriver" to get to the batteries. I've never seen anything like it sold in stores (about 1/3" across), and I don't know how I'll get to the batteries if I ever lose this thing.

I have a lot of loupes for different purposes. This particular one is my favorite, so much so that I have purchased several so that I have one everywhere I sit, just to keep it close at hand. And this one easily out performs ones that I spent more money on.
The light is the main feature that makes it stand out, and the quality of the optics is quite good, well beyond my expectations at this price.
My only complaint is that I wish it has variable brightness somehow, as every once in a while I'm looking at something that needs less illumination. But that has little to do with how much I like this one.
I'm buying a couple more of them today, because someone else liked it enough to swipe it off my desk at the office. But there is another great feature, it is inexpensive enough to replace. I'm almost tempted to keep extras around to give away to special people, such as youngsters... It would make an excellent educational gift to any child old enough to not swallow it.
This is well constructed, has a bright light and does the job with ease. It also comes with batteries and a nice carrying case. Definitely worth $9.
July 2012: It's been a great loupe. Battery started going, so I went to Walmart to get a battery. She told me the batteries were $6 a piece and I needed 3 of them! That's insane. I looked on Amazon and found a package of 10, SE AG7, specifically for this loupe. They only cost $2.94 with free shipping. I'm so glad I didn't buy them at Walmart!
Oct 2012: After buying various batteries to try to replace the old ones in this loupe, I finally gave up as none of them worked. I can't explain why. The loupe wasn't defective as the originals still worked, although very dim. So, I was forced to go out and buy another identical loupe. It's a nice loupe, but I can't understand why I couldn't get the replacements batteries (from 3 different companies) to work in this loupe.
Pros: This little magnifier is nicely built and a bargain for the price. There are two tiny LED's mounted just below the lens, and the button battery is included. It comes with it's own spanner-type screwdriver, to remove the battery compartment cover. And there's even a protective plastic case with a hinged cover.
Cons: It's supposed to be 20x magnification; I think somebody needs to brush up on their multiplication skills. Either that or the "X" doesn't stand for times anymore. While it does magnify some, it doesn't come close to 20x.
All in all, the little lens does magnify, it lights up, folds to a compact size, is well-built and affordable. I'd recommend this product to anyone who needs an inexpensive, well-built, compact, folding, lighted magnifier
If it actually magnified 20x, I'd have given it all five stars.
The clarity of the loupe does not compare to a BelOMO or a Bausch & Lomb, but if you're looking for THE best usable loupe for around $5 this is it. Honestly if you're only going to use a loupe sporatically this is the one to get. If you're going to be spending hours and hours using a loupe I'd spring for the other brands previously mentioned. Hope this helps!
I'm not a jeweler nor an optician; I wanted a small magnifier to be able to read small part numbers. This little guy fits the bill perfectly. It's got a nice solid feel, and the magnifier is clear in the middle. The edge of the lens is distorted, but I think that's normal. The LED light is very bright, but the switch is slightly clumsy to get at, and the LED itself shines off-center of the lens (hence the 4 stars). The case does a fine job of protecting the lens, but doesn't seal, and won't keep dust out. I don't see this as a problem, as it'll be living in a drawer, but if you're going to be out wandering in the field, you may want to consider it (and why would you buy a cheap magnifier then?). Overall I'm quite pleased.
