Pleasantly surprised!

21July'18 Update:
I acquired a Bausch & Lomb 10x Hastings triplet loupe for direct a-b comparison, and my verdict, after extensive trials is that there is very little to no difference in image quality.
Sometimes the this $17 unit seems a tad better, sometimes the B&L seems a tad better - you have to hold both units EXACTLY the same way and look at exactly the same, tiniest details you can find to even have a chance of seeing any difference.
I would say this inexpensive lighted unit is easily 98 - 100% as good as the B&L. The B&L is smaller and lighter - since it doesn't have lights, batteries and switches etc - and sometimes that makes it a bit easier to use, IF you don't need the light just then.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't have a Zeiss, Nikon, or B&L loupe to do a direct comparison, but just using this alone, the image looks very sharp; with a wide, flat field of view - essentially all the way out to the edge!
No color fringing that I see.
(I will do a comparison with a pricey loupe first chance, and update this review).
Magnification appears to be a full 10x. Any more power, I'd rather use a microscope.
The 6 white LED's are definitely useful...
AND (huh?) the unit is better than described, in that 7 UV led's are fitted, not 1 as stated in the description and other reviews; 6 around the periphery of the lens, and one off to the side. Go figger.
The build quality looks good; the unit seems heavy and solid, and opens with a stiff, viscous feel - which makes it easier to use. Does NOT look at all like it will fall apart anytime soon, as has been stated elsewhere - so the problems there must have been dealt with.
Even the leather case is decent enough to be useful and desirable, looks like it might have a reasonably long life.
...and delivery was FAST....
Recommended!
I use it for fountain pens. The LED light lets me examine nibs and imprints very well.
21mm Jeweler Loupe Triplet Lens 10x Magnifier Magnification with LED and UV Light
Decent quality for this price range. Gotta love Prime shipping!!!!!
Works great
Great tool for a stamp collector

Feature Product
- UV Light + 6 LED lights
- 10x Magnification Power
- Jeweler Loupe Magnifier with 21mm triplet lens
- Perfect light for viewing diamonds and other gemstones
- Achromatic Optical Glass magnifier
Description
Natural white light helps to look at inclusions, perfect light for viewing diamonds and other gemstones. One switch for LED and UV, functions as either LED loupe or UV loupe. The UV light is used for checking
fluorescence in diamonds. Diamonds with fluorescence will appear cloudy when viewed with the UV light on. Fluorescence is not 'diagnostic' but, as with most tests, it eliminates some possibilities, opens other
possibilities, suggests which other tests to carry out, and that's how gemologists identify stones.
Added Features
* ideal for inspecting diamonds, gemstones, watches, and many more applications
* Achromatic - Corrected for color distortions, for true color viewing
* Triplet Lens - Three separate lenses bonded together, vastly superior to doublets and single lens magnification
* Emits a cool bright light that produces bright image and good visibility, even in poor light conditions
* Powerful precision glass lens brings fine micro-detail into view
* Direct illumination eliminates shadows
* Made with the finest quality optics and with top quality metal cases

Sounds great to have 2 types of light, but it is clumsy to use. The LED is good, but the UV is not strong enough, which is a shame.
The LED goes around the periphery while the UV is just a single bulb. So, when I put an item directly under the UV I could not used the magnifier, and even when put directly over it, the UV was still too weak.
Gift for an entomologist friend. She loved it.
great
