Bought this for my wife's vintage costume jewelry repair business. On many repairs she needs to know what material is on the piece so she knows how to repair. This is a great addition to her tools. Expensive as all get out but it works well.
I have a bit of concern how long the little tubes of solution will last once you put in the pen but that is probably just me. We did have a bit of difficulty figuring hour how to get the pen to work. Note you need to turn the knob several times before it flow.
Be sure to read the instructions to fully understand how it works. Worth taking the time to do.
I'm going to have to contact the manufacturer to get the silver tester to work and I am having difficulty changing metals on the menu. It tested my yellow gold easily and I was impressed. I sure hope the problem is with the user. As a professional technical writer for over 50 years, I do think the instructions could be written more clearly. But, all in all, I would recommend it.
