So I was pretty skeptical about these as I have a severe sensitivity and normally start itching within minutes of wearing earrings with nickel. I initially bought one pack of these hooks just to test my sensitivity and figured if they were not good then I was out the money, my loss. However, I was very pleasantly surprised, my ears didnt itch at all at the first pair I swaped out. I have subsequently bought another 3 packs of these hooks and have since swaped all the hooks of my earrings. There were a few hooks which were not useable in each package, but I guess that's to be expected, it didnt bother me. I dont know if they are surgical steel, but they are definitely nickel-free and hypoallergenic and I'm very happy that I can finally wear all my earrings.
I was afraid these might be super yellow like the ones I orderd from a different seller. These are perfect and match the gold jewelry in my collection. Finally something I can use to swap out some of the older earring hooks and convert a few of my favorite studs over to dangles!
I always like buying clip on earrings and changing out the clip for hooks, I find that they are cheaper and the clips are always so painful anyways. I also love buying the cheaper jewelry from stores (tinkerbell or icing, claires etc) however I hate having the cheap metal in my ears and some can turn your skin green, I find that if I switch out the hooks for surgical steel, I can buy any earring and not have to worry about the effects of the poor quality metal, I know what all my hooks are made out of. These are great because you get 100 for such a minimal price and then you have 50 pairs of safe earrings.
I ordered 2 packages. There were several that were broken. The price is cheap enough to purchase again. This time expecting several to be busted.
I did not use these- they were a gift for my sister that likes to make bead earrings. She likes them.

just as described. i needed these for a non-typical use but still for what they are seem to be good quality. no obvious defects. i needed one for a watch repair job and am very happy with the outcome.
These completely suit my purposes. I first ordered 22K Gold Plated Surgical Steel Hypo-Allergenic Earring Hooks (100) and I was happy with those, so I decided to get the (silver) surgical steel ones as well. These are not perfect, but at the price, and given some of the other reviews, I wasn't expecting perfection. Where do they fall short? Well, they aren't all exactly the same; some are shorter than others, a few ball & coils are missing, the way the hooks are bent varies somewhat from one to the next. The coils on a portion of my hooks aren't tight, but I am able to mash them together with pliers without much trouble. These are small criticisms. There is no question in my mind that the hooks are in fact surgical steel as I've purchased other surgical steel hooks and the distinction (from say, silver-plated brass hooks) is in how hard they are, which is a quality I like. Bend this into the shape you prefer (I habitually bend the ear wire closer in to lessen the likelihood that it'll fall out when in someone's ear) and it'll stay that way. The order took awhile to come but I knew that going in. And not only did I get the 100 I ordered, but found a bit more than that in the tiny ziplocked bag. (Oh yeah, I count 'em!) Quite satisfied.
