Aviditi Carton Sizer/Reducer (Sizer)

Aviditi Carton Sizer/Reducer (Sizer)

I have to ship quite a few large things and (usually) start with a box that is larger than the item. My boxes used to look like an angry person punched them and slapped tape on them in random places as my seams were wonky and my cuts were all over the place. And the sad thing is I probably spent an HOUR or LONGER making this box and it looked TERRIBLE. Boxes so ugly I sent apologies with them.

You will save so much time reducing boxes and they will look better and maintain their strength better as your folds won't be crooked and your cuts straighter. Seriously, SO MUCH TIME SAVED. Don't get me wrong, you can still go crooked with this if you're not paying attention but it makes it easy to not.

Paid for itself the first time I used it. I needed a box to send an item that was about 16" x 10" x 6" to a customer. The only box I had was about 12" too tall. This tool made it easy to cut the box down to get out of dimensional weight size, and cutting extra material off the flaps shaved off enough actual weight to get the box under the next pound increment. I didn't have to waste money on dunnage.

Very easy to use, and a must for anyone who does a lot of shipping. Set the sliding adjustment, score the inside of the box and use a utility knife to slit up the inside of the corners. Fold the flaps over, trim off any excess and you're done!

I own a packing/shipping company, and we've had three carton sizers during the 4+ years we've been in operation. Sure, you can accomplish the same thing with a knife and a ruler, but this is a lot more convenient, and (because you're making straighter lines) results in a box that is more neat-looking and more structurally sound than boxes you'd cut down freehand. If you do a lot of shipping, then buying one of these will absolutely provide a tremendous savings on both time and freight cost.

So why only four stars? Well, two of our three carton sizers stopped working, and we probably need to replace the last one. The mechanical problems that we've encountered are as follows:
- The spur blade at the bottom of the device becomes dull, and it is difficult to find a replacement
- The screw at the bottom of the sizer (the one that holds the spur blade in place) apparently comes loose during normal operation: once we lost the screw and the blade in a huge open box full of peanuts, and had to just scrap the rest of it
- The wheel that secures the ledge of the sizer to the open edge of the box stopped being able to tighten all the way
- The handle loosened over time, which made our "lines" of perforation become a bit curved

I'll continue to purchase these items, because they're well worth the cost. But I wish I could find one that was able to reliably hold up against frequent usage.

This thing WORKS! We have purchased many fandangos to do various jobs over the years and most sit on the shelf as more trouble than they are worth. This tool, which has come to be called "the cutter-downer" around the shop works easily and does a great job. This tool and a razor knife are all that is needed to quickly & easily cut down boxes so they fit the item to be shipped and look professional.

This tool looks to be well made and I expect it to last many years. This is one gadget that does not disappoint.

This is a good product. However, based on the photo showing something extending over the back edge of the box top, and the limited description, I was hoping that it would press a crease into the cardboard from both sides, creating a fold line without damaging the material surface.

Instead, it is simply a perforation wheel with a guide. I don't generally get a straight fold from it, probably because I don't press hard enough. It does not get all the way into the corners unless you cut further down than you want to fold and then perforate above it (so the tool can go past the adjacent edge of the box). If you want to resize your box by only a small amount, there is a limit to how close the wheel can get to the guide. I have had to freehand a few where I only wanted to take off an inch.

I ship books, which makes for heavy boxes even when they are small. Therefore, damaging the box material seems like a bad plan. That's why I put away my utility knife and bought this.

Anyway, still four stars because there is nothing else and it's a huge improvement on a utility knife and a ruler. I'm glad I bought it, it just wasn't everything I hoped.

Description

Carton Sizer/Reducer. Cut boxes to the exact size required! Carton Sizer/Reducer makes cutting boxes down to the desired depth fast and easy. Saves money by requiring less void fill. Ruled for precise measuring.

after you mastering how to use it, is very friendly, I make shipments every day and sometimes I have to modify boxes to make them larger or smaller and this is the perfect tool glad I found it

I purchased this device about one week ago, and have now used it modifying 15 boxes. It is well built, simple, and has done a good job. The build in ruler (inch/metric) is handy for measuring and reproducing a uniform perf on multiple boxes. HOWEVER, the illustration used is somewhat misleading. It shows the device just being run down the flap of a box. In reality, if you want a clean, deep, perforation in the cardboard, the flap **needs** to be supported in some way. Doing it the way it is illustrated will cause very light perforations or no perforations in the cardboard. You **need** to put the flap on the floor/ground, a worktable, or some solid surface you can PUSH AGAINST.
With the proper support, this works great.

This is something I never knew I needed. I used to struggle to cut larger boxes down to fit my items, especially with trying to get the box not to look lopsided after doing so. Creasing the new flaps was very difficult, but this tool both measures and cuts a score line for the adjusted flaps. This will come in very handy. This looks sturdy and well made. Quick shipping!

I was boxing my stuff up to send to Amazon and padding the top of the bo with craft paper before closing it. Dead space between the contents and the top of the box needed to be filled otherwise the box would collapse. Then I found the box resizer and I was able to perforate the box just above the contents and fold inward the excess box so little or no padding was needed. Can't do my business without it.

I first saw this on a youTube video and thought that I would try it.
It looked like a good tool and has turned out to be a GREAT tool.
I salvage boxes whenever I can and this tool makes it possible to custom size the depth of my salvaged boxes. This save me a lot on packing material which reduces the weight of the package and saves me on shipping costs.
I think that this is a must have tool for anyone who reuses boxes.
