Artistic Wire 24-Gauge Tarnish Resistant Silver Wire, 15-Yard

Artistic Wire 24-Gauge Tarnish Resistant Silver Wire, 15-Yard

This is my all time favorite wire for just about every jewelry project! I've been designing jewelry for about 3 years now, and was absolutely thrilled to discover a bright, silver-colored wire that does NOT tarnish. The thinner gauges of silver colored wire (24 and up) are slightly brighter in color, but all gauges keep a lovely white sheen indefinitely.

This wire is somewhat soft, making it very easy to do wire wrapping. I've also found that the 20 gauge is just hard enough for making smaller jump rings (4,6, maybe 8 mm diameter) for chainmaille designs etc. Overall a very versatile wire!

As with all wires, you do have to be careful with the pliers to avoid nicks and scratches. In addition, the coating of this wire that makes it non-tarnish can start to shred off if scraped or otherwise abused multiple times. This only seems to be a problem with the heavier gauges (I noticed it with 18 gauge silver colored wire).

Finally, the packaging for the wire is very handy; you can just wind the desired amount off the spool. No mess, no frustration!

I couldn't be happier with the product and just pray that it continues to be available as I rely on this for all my jewelry now!

Copper core with silver coating. Soft tempered wire, thin enough to string starter beads and strong enough for weaving or wrapping crystals. Wire becomes tougher with manipulation.
Metal tools may strip coating; just use hands, rubber tools or cover with cloth if using metal tools or hammering. Convenient spool dispensing prevents entanglement.
Note: The bigger the number, the thinner the wire- or gauge 18 wire is much thicker than gauge 30, and so on.

It's just artistic wire, right? I don't know much about jewelry but it did what I needed it to when making some little "brackets" to hold shells I was putting on necklaces.

I'll also note that it hasn't tarnished at all, as advertised, even in the very high-humidity we've got here in Hawaii. What's left on the role has just been sitting in a hot, sticky closet but it's not any worse off than it was when I bought it months ago.

I like Artistic Wire by Beadalon and this fine 24-Gauge Tarnish Resistant Silver Wire is easy to work and use in making strings of your designs of beads or stone fabrication. At $7.76 for a 15-Yard spool it goes a long way making your designs into wearable art. This wire will hold it's shine and color due to the enamaled coating and avoids scuffs and damage when you are subjecting it to the normal bending and twisting of jewelry making. This wire has made working with it a dream for those of us who bend, twist and weave it to make our minds eye into something beautifut to wear. I like it and do recommend it for jewelry artwork.

I loved this jewelry wire! It is a great width for wire wrapping headbands, earrings, necklaces, etc. The spool it comes on is nice, but it also comes with a plastic clip so that once you are done, you can put the clip around the spool and the wire will stay in place. The wire itself is durable while still being easy to manipulate and cut when needed. I initially bought 2 packs, but will definitely purchase more in the future. An all around great product!
