Carson TriView 3X/5.5X/8.5X and 5x/10x/15x Folding Loupes with Built-in Case (TV-15 and TV-36)

Carson TriView 3X/5.5X/8.5X and 5x/10x/15x Folding Loupes with Built-in Case (TV-15 and TV-36)

I purchased the 5X/10X/15X and I do like it (A LOT!) for my purposes. I really would give this about a 3-1/2, but that is only because I know that if someone is looking for a "professional" quality loupe then they will want to get clear glass and spend a lot more money. In my photography work I have loupe's that cost a heck of a lot more and are much better quality. However, I purchased two of these, one to keep in my go-bag where it serves several purposes, and another one that I keep on my night stand where I use it to read the really fine print that my eyes can't read anymore. It really goes great in my go-bag because it is small and lightweight and you don't even notice it is there. I can use it for map reading, as part of my First-Aid kit for pulling out splinters, ticks, or bee stings, or for using the sun to start a fire. As long as you are not expecting professional quality glass then I highly recommend this as an all-purpose light weight loupe that can go just about anywhere that you go.

This pocket loupe does exactly what it says on the box. It provides three identical lenses which can be used individually or in combination. Used all together, the stack makes a strong magnifier with a fairly short working distance so you will want to have good light available. Used singly or in pairs, the working distance is more reasonable, but the magnification is lower.

I have not attempted to measure either the focal length or the magnification, but from comparison with other lenses, the 5x claim for the individual lenses is plausible. Naturally then, the 10x for a pair and 15x for all three follow from the properties of lenses.

I actually carry this primarily as a close-up lens for my cell phone camera. It is easy to hold against the back of the phone with the lens(es) aligned with the camera while taking a picture, and the strong magnifier allows the camera to be in focus quite close to the subject.

This is an extremely nice magnifying glass for the professional or amateur collector of coin(s) or anything needing magnification of other important/educational needs. This is a highly recommended product and should be considered speculatively as it is a value and at the magnifications PCGS and other professional grading companies use as of magnification 5x/10x/15x.

The service offered by Amazon and this seller are always a pleasure to do business with from a consumer standpoint. You won't be disappointed here whatever your needs and expectations might be regarding service and satisfaction. KUDOS!!!!

I find these handy as a disposable machinist loupe. I work with small precision parts in a dirty environment, so this is ideal. Unexpectedly, I have had the same one for years without it wearing or getting scratched, so it is better made and more durable than I expected for the price. I keep several around as gifts for the critical people I work with, combining reward and encouraging attention to detail.

this is a great magnifier pure and simple. With the ability to choose from 5X, 10X or 15X magnification it has versatility single lens mags don't. The housing is a solid strong plastic only open on the side that the lens close into. The same hard plastic wraps the lenses. THe view clarity is good. Of course as with any magnification tool you need to have enough light to go through unless it comes with a built in light. But, if that's not a concern and you need a solid good power magnifier or are visually impaired like me. This is definitely a good buy for the price. I easily would have been willing to pay $20 for this and it cost me a fraction of that.

If you're visually impaired like me I'll be trying other products found on here I already have another review up on a different magnifier that you're welcome to read. I'll be posting reviews on magnifiers and a monocular or 2 for distance help.

Great form, fit, and function. Optics are fine for viewing small mechanical devices. I purchased this mainly because I very much like their 20x pocket microscope. Still a light like on the microscope would be huge improvement.

I purchased this and also a "Carson MicroMini 20x LED Lighted Pocket Microscope" as a gift for a 9 year old child. The folding loupes are nice because there are various magnification levels. At the end of the day, the child uses the pocket microscope more than the folding loupes.

I'm legally blind and have been looking for something like this for years but the other types haven't been quite what I was needing, These are a little bit bigger but small enough to have in my pocket when I need it and work really well for my needs. I'll be picking up a bunch of these later for when I need more.

Great product!!! Case is solid and well built. I have the 5/10/15 model. At 15x the fov is 2 cm with an effective fov of 5 mm. Remember, as magnification increases, fussiness increases. So, some practice is required to make this instrument effective at high magnification. The case measures 2 1/4" long and 1" thick - maybe a little big for the pocket.

The plastic feels sturdy and the lenses are not defective in any way. For such an inexpensive item, I was pleased with the quality. 15x magnification takes some practice; I was peering at particles on houseplant leaves to determine if there were any insects eggs, and a steady hand was required. What turned out to be dust was clearly magnified in the center of the viewing area.

I purchased these along with a metal Coddington 10x from Donegan, at three times the price, just to have an alternative. The Carson Folding Loupe was more versatile, the were lenses larger, and there was no discernible difference in usability. This set won.
