The unique nature of this brick produces low thermal conductivity and good thermal shock characteristics because of its network of microporosity. The excellent thermal efficiency of this brick allows users to achieve high temperatures in forges, ovens, etc, with minimal BTU input.
The bricks are TC-2300 and due to the nature of the products porosity, it wears easily, so care must be taken when handling. Minor dents, cracks, and imperfections are to be expected as these are B grade bricks. Even with careful packaging it is common to have small dents in the corners of the bricks, these imperfections will not affect performance. Adding a heavy duty fire brick in front of the insulating fire brick can be a great way to protect the insulating fire brick.
