It's supposed to be smooth to work with small jewelry. If I knew it I would have bought another, more expensive.
I bought this hoping for something compact to take with me with my stamping set to label brass keys but although with two or three whacks it works, it is easier to do it with a heavier hammer with one whack. However, it is very nice because it is light weight and compact for carrying with me. I know this was not sold for stamping keys, but if others have the same idea, I wanted them to be aware.
bought it for hit pins with a pin punch out. It does work. I use it for one pin only so i would not buy it for more use than that as it is small and a larger handle will work easier. But his works for sure.
Nice for my stamping working
I have lath and plaster walls so I can only use small nails to hang pictures etc. this mini hammer means no more finger smashing! I wouldn't use it for heavy pounding tho. good for working in small spaces a normal hammer won't fit.

This is a cheap product but if you need a handy hammer to grab for quick fixes I recommend it. When I received the hammer the head was wiggly and falling off due to the wood handle being broken, nothing a little super glue cant fix. This review isn't based on the fact that it was broken because I understand not all are broken. I bought this to use for crafting jewelry but found a regular hardware store hammer might work better. The weight on this hammer feels off and when tapping out metal it tends to hit uneven as the head is a little bit off. This is an add on item so for the price it is a good enough product to receive 4 out of 5 stars I personally think it should receive 3.5 stars but that is not a possible rating. Recommend for someone who will use occasionally but not for someone who will put good use into the hammer. The picture listed on amazon is exactly what it looks like and what you get from it.
Does its job but looks like it was thrown together with some hot glue and called a day.
The small size and decreased weight make this hammer great to keep in my around-the-house tool bag.
